The Biden-Harris Administration has been actively supporting Florida's recovery efforts following the devastating impacts of hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton. In the month since Hurricane Milton made landfall, FEMA has approved over $2.1 billion in assistance for Florida. This includes $931.7 million in direct awards to survivors for housing repairs, personal property replacement, and other recovery efforts. Additionally, over $1.18 billion in grants have been approved to support local and state governments for debris removal and emergency protective measures.

All of Florida’s power and cellphone service have been restored to pre-storm levels thanks to the coordinated efforts of the federal family, state, tribal, and local partners, along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Energy. FEMA has 19 Disaster Recovery Centers open in Florida where survivors can receive in-person help, and 460 Disaster Survivor Assistance team members are engaging with survivors in affected neighborhoods.

FEMA has also provided significant support through the National Flood Insurance Program, with over 72,000 policyholders in Florida filing claims and receiving approximately $894 million to repair properties and replace contents.

Survivors can apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA App, or by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362. Various Disaster Recovery Centers are available across affected states, including Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia, to provide one-on-one assistance.

The deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance varies by state, with some deadlines set for November 12 and others for December 2, 2024.
