Drake Maye, the rookie quarterback of the New England Patriots, made significant headlines with his performance against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Despite clearing the NFL's concussion protocol just a day before the game, Maye led an impressive 11-play, 50-yard touchdown drive at the end of regulation, culminating in a game-tying touchdown pass to running back Rhamondre Stevenson. This play, which took 11.82 seconds to execute, is the second-longest time to throw on any touchdown pass since Next Gen Stats tracking began in 2016. Maye's agility and ability to evade defenders were highlighted as he danced around the pocket to buy time before making the pass.

Maye also had a notable performance on the ground, rushing for a personal best of 95 yards on eight scrambles, the second most by a Patriots quarterback since 1976. However, his game was marred by turnovers, including two interceptions and a fumble, which ultimately contributed to the Patriots' 20-17 overtime loss.

Coach Jerod Mayo praised Maye's mental toughness and competitive spirit, noting that despite his youth, Maye shows great promise as a quarterback. Maye himself reflected on the need to learn from his mistakes, particularly the ill-advised deep pass in overtime that was intercepted, ending the game.

The loss dropped the Patriots to a 2-7 record, while the Titans improved to 2-6. The game was significant as it impacted the teams' chances for high draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
