As a freelancer, Garrett has covered the resilient bar, Thunderbolt, for the Los Angeles Times, written a bar crawl guide for GQ, and documented the history of Tiki drinks and Chinese food for PUNCH.⁣

Most recently, Garrett was a Staff Reporter at the Los Angeles Times and was the Food Editor of LA Weekly and Los Angeles magazine. ⁣

Garrett is also the author of three critically acclaimed cookbooks, including the New York Times-bestselling “Pepper Thai Cookbook” with Pepper Teigen (mother of Chrissy) and “Cook Real Hawai’i” with Top Chef fan-favorite Sheldon Simeon.⁣
