Behind the Scenes of UVA Basketball

Fresh off a day spent behind the scenes with UVA men's basketball, David Teel from The Virginian-Pilot joins Preston to discuss his observations from watching Ryan Odom's team.

First, Preston and David talk about the new found importance in carrying over an entire coaching staff in the new age of college athletics and how this allowed Ryan Odom to hit the ground sprinting at UVA. Then David explains why Odom is making a big effort to have basketball alumni around the program from day one and his desire to include the Tony Bennett era.

Later Preston and David discuss the biggest question hanging over this roster: chemistry. David talks about Odom's ability to bring a group of players together with up to 11 new players on this year's roster. They also update on where things are with Thijs de Ridder and the other international players.

Finally, David analyzes what he saw from practice in terms of Odom's play style and the insistence on playing fast, as well as what appearances by Rick Carlisle and Mike D'Antoni meant.
