Basketball Cards 101: Planning - Six Months of NBA Investing Strategy

Failing to plan is like planning to fail.  If you want a great collection of Basketball cards, then you've got to plan your attack and know when to buy and when to sell.  The NBA calendar is like a 12-month roller coaster for card collectors and investors, full of opportunities to buy low and sell high.  You can buy during boring times and sell during exciting times.  You can seize deals on All-Stars in September and sell them in February.  You can watch players and playoff teams emerge in January and sell their cards in May when they actually make that playoff run.  In today's episode, our host Gary from HoopsandCards.com gives us a game plan for the next 5-6 months and reminds us that everything about Basketball card prices, hype, and sales eventually builds up to the playoffs and NBA Finals in June.  

Some basic notes about each month... SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER are still "bargain times" when many card investors are focusing on other sports.  NOVEMBER and DECEMBER are times when you can watch NBA games and see which players and teams are emerging, improved, or seriously contending in 2023.  JANUARY and FEBUARY are times to showcase the All-Stars, new Superstars, and breakout players with bright futures.  The All-Star game and the NBA Playoffs are great times to plan to SELL cards of players who have drawn the attention of the whole league and Basketball card investors worldwide.  Don't be easily swayed by one game or performance unless it's historic or record-breaking.  Do make note of players you think would be worth investing in for short-term and long-term gains.  Patience is key during an 82-game season, with lots of opportunities and pitfalls ahead.
