Warning: this episode inspired by your host's desire to nerd out over recent art museum trips!
We are bringing the buzz to you from our exploration of the Nelson-Atkins' glass collections! We learned a whole bunch about artistic processes as well as historical context, and hope you will too.
This episode, we will take a deep dive into innovations in glass-blowing, as well as painting, etching, and coloring, across the 17th through the 19th centuries in order to understand the evolution of glass' enormous yet overlooked influence on international relations, norms of trade and thus the entire European economy of the time, and national identities as well as rivalries.
Enjoy the buzz!
