Hello Houston (August 25, 2025)

On today’s Hello Houston, Frank and special guest hosts Chau Nguyen and Doug Miller talk with State Sen. Carol Alvarado at the top of the first hour, who discusses her attempt to filibuster the new, recently passed Texas congressional maps.

Also, in the first hour, we’re joined by former Houston Mayor Bill White, who talks about the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and his role in Houston’s response. We also talk with Dr. Faviola Cantu, the Chief Academic Officer for Aldine ISD, who tells us about the district’s recent successes.

In the second hour, we hear from State Rep. Ann Johnson, who shares her thoughts on the Texas Legislature passing the redrawn map for the state's congressional districts. Then, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis joins us to talk about the eight-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey and to tell us about the neighborhoods that still need help. 

Plus, Prairie View A&M University’s Dr. Abida Solomon, a 2025 Excellence in Nursing Award recipient, helps break down Houston’s nursing shortage.
