Today we are finishing up chapter fourteen with the last ten verses, verses 13-23. Yesterday we talked about what to do when we disagree with other members in the body of Christ, or in the church, and today we’re going to finish that conversation. In the first part of the chapter, Paul tells us we need to be convinced of what we personally believe, we need to live with the knowledge that we will answer to God about our choices, and regardless of where other believers stand, we need to welcome them. We mentioned yesterday that welcoming others who disagree with us puts us in a place of humility. The scriptures we will read today support that a little more. I’m going to read verses 13-15, because in them, Paul uses himself as an example, and I think the scriptures speak for themselves.
“Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling clock or hindrance in the way of a brother. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love.”
