No triggers just flavor! For rich creamy tropical sweet lovers this one's for you...

Eating for IBS means great food without gut triggers. Try coconut extract!

If you’re eating for IBS you need to go low fat (but not fat free), as fat is a huge IBS trigger.

But fat carries flavor, and dropping the fat level means you need to heighten the taste.

So try an IBS flavor bomb! For rich creamy tropical sweet lovers this one's for you...

Coconut Extract

Do you love sweet creamy coconut milk and coconut cream, but the sky high fat content doesn’t love you back? Me too!

So try this fast and easy substitution:

Add 1 tsp to 1 T coconut extract to 1 cup of plain unsweetened oat or soy milk.

Start with 1 tsp and taste, add another 1 tsp and taste again, if it’s still not coconut-y enough add a third teaspoon. Different brands of extracts have varying strengths.

Use this to replace 1 cup of coconut milk in any recipe.

If you whisk in 1 T of Tummy Fiber as well that will give an extra rich, creamy “mouth feel”.

This works beautifully as a coconut milk substitute in just about anything:

Thai curries, stews, stir fries, and sauces

tropical fruit smoothies and drinks

cream pies and cakes

puddings and custards

homemade ice creams

rice pilafs and sticky rice

Get a glass bottle of coconut extract in the baking section of any grocery store. It should be right by the vanilla extract.

Oat or soy milk work best for this. They have a heavier body and weight than rice or almond milk, which are too thin and watery.

Because eating for IBS should be delicious, and never mean deprivation.

You are not alone.
