IBS quick tip. Gluten free does not mean IBS safe
Lots of trigger foods have no gluten at all...
If you're following a gluten free diet beware that gluten free does NOT mean safe for IBS.
Gluten free foods can still have plenty of other IBS diet triggers - fats, insoluble fibers, GI irritants/stimulants such as caffeine, artificial sweeteners, alcohols, carbonation.
As an aside, note that gluten is not a FODMAP. Gluten is a protein, FODMAPS are carbohydrates. They are not related.
And some gluten free products actually add IBS trigger foods to replace the missing protein from the gluten that would normally be there. (Watch out for whey and pea proteins!)
Always read labels and ingredients to be sure.
