Alarming news. Alzheimer’s and IBS genetically linked...
Certain genes tied to both Alzheimer’s and irritable bowel syndrome, GERD, diverticulosis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastritis-duodenitis.
Researchers have found genetic links between Alzheimer's and five gastrointestinal disorders.
IBS is one of them.
This is really distressing. My own beloved grandmother died from Alzheimer’s.
Certain genes are now associated with having both Alzheimer’s and irritable bowel syndrome, GERD, diverticulosis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastritis-duodenitis.
The study noted that the findings further support the concept of the brain-gut axis, a two-way link between the brain’s cognitive and emotional centers and the functioning of the intestines.
This also highlights the genetic association of Alzheimer’s with not just gastrointestinal disorders but also the gut microbiome.
And more about the IBS brain-gut connection…
You are not alone.
