House Sick

  1. Use cleaning products with low fumes and no fragrances.
  2. Vacuum regularly to remove dust.
  3. Change out air filters every couple of months (or more, if necessary).
  4. Find the right humidity — NHS Choices recommends an optimal humidity level of 40 to 70 percent
  5. Sick building syndrome (SBS) is a condition that can be caused by poor indoor air quality, and symptoms often improve when you leave the building. To improve the air quality in your home, you can try: Increasing ventilation: Open windows or install ventilation bricks or fans. Maintaining HVAC systems: Clean and replace filters regularly, and operate the system to meet local building code standards. Using low-VOC products: Choose paints, adhesives, and cleaning products with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and no fragrances. Storing chemicals properly: Store chemicals in well-ventilated areas, and use them when the building is unoccupied. Testing for mold and fungus: Get your home tested for mold or fungus. Reducing stress: Take regular breaks, and try to reduce stress. Improving lighting: Consider adding more lamps, or using LED or blue lights
