“You have the right to your emotions regardless of your age; if it’s your child, you will hurt them more if you dismiss their feelings.”
It’s not often that I get a chance to speak to young people making their way in the world on this show and have an honest, get to know you conversation. I think that sometimes we can get so caught up in looking forward and to what the future holds, that we forget to turn our heads back to those coming up behind us and ask them “Are you OK? What are your hopes and dreams for the future and how can we help you get there?” Which is why when Haelee’s father, Dedrick, contacted me about having Haelee on as a guest, I jumped at the chance to have a conversation with her.
Haelee is a fashion designer, author and oh yeah before I forget to mention it...is in the 7th grade! What started out as a personal journal writing about her feelings of depression and anxiety, with support and encouragement from her father, quickly developed into her first published work, The Rules of a Big Boss: A Book of Self Love. Along with her stories of emotional struggle, she also shares how she found her inner lioness and rose up and found self-esteem from within. A message of positivity that has transformed into a successful fashion design business centered around her book.
Haelee’s star is definitely on the rise as she has been featured on television, in magazines and various media platforms. Haelee and her father Dedrick, have a strong supportive relationship that knows no bounds. Dedrick encourages his daughter to reach for the stars while at the same time, reminding her to keep her boots on the ground.
I invite you to Have A Seat with this aspiring young lady and hear about her rise to fame, how she is handling it all and her exciting plans for the future.
