Enclosures: Efficiency and Tears.  Agricultural output increases 80% over rival France, with profits increasing greatly more.  We look at the rural landscape and take a look at how the Commons were integrated into village life.  We describe some of the situations as resembling a color blindness chart with a kaleidoscope of rights to farm small scattered plots.  Enclosure led to a great deal of violence, but parliamentary intervention gradually made the process better and fairer, albeit slowly and gradually.  The English Civil War created conditions that made farming dramatically more efficient by making it safe for capitalism.  Christopher Hill’s insight into this utterly unique world historical event is explored.   Conversations with Camie contrasts the French efforts to whip the serfs until morale improves.
