Inspired by Seth Godin's blog post The Easy Way Down
Do we ski to get to the bottom? If so, why not just ride the lift down? Do we climb mountains simply to reach the top? If so, why not take a helicopter? Do we go to college to get a degree so we can get a decent job? Or is there more to learning than simply 'graduating'?
It seems that when we get to the top of the mountain, we take a picture and head right back down. Or when we reach the bottom of the slope, we jump right back on the lift. Or when we complete that race, we sign up for the next one.
What we know and often forget in our pursuits is that we aren't working towards an end, we are working towards progress. The point of all of it is who we are becoming along the way.
One thing we all know instinctively is the easy way does not lead to better results. Its' like solving for 2+2. You know the answer and you've been there before. Better results require more moguls. And as every skier knows, it's also more fun.
What moguls have you been avoiding? How could those moguls help you achieve the better results you're looking for?
