The long arc of Human history is divided into grandiose epochs that are defined by certain monumental discoveries. Ten-thousand years ago nomadic tribes discovered agriculture which led to civilization. The steam engine led to the Industrial Age. The discovery of flight led to the era of diminishing leg room. And the modern era of computers and TidePod Challenges began with the creation of the thin, invisible laminate called plastic. The incredible versatility of this unassuming substance has completely altered the trajectory of humankind. While on an industrial scale it can be molded to create global solutions to international logistics, every day we interact with it on a smaller level, like wrapping fresh dry-cleaning. While that may keep starched and pressed linens clean, it creates a frictionless, clumsy pile of slippery bags. So is this a convenience? Or is this slippery annoyance a prelude of a larger pile crashing down like a pyramid of plastic cups? Rip through the layers of single use cellophane with Veronique and Mat as we attempt to carry this slick, Syran-wrapped curse down the slippery-slope of plastic on plastic on Plastic on Plastic!
