A new year is upon us. The holidays are over and it is back to "real life." For some that's a drag, and for others the prospect of school, work and steady schedules is sweet relief!

Either way, the new year is a great time to reinvigorate the mission of marriage and of parenthood. Taking a cue from the movie Argo, we spend some time on how the mission of our families--marriage and parenting--is heroic work even if it is just in relationship to six, four, two or even one other person. We have the opportunity to have a deep, positive impact on the ones we love the most.

What an exciting mission!

While we are NOT good resolution people, we do talk about one simple new habit each of us is trying to tackle in the new year. And, Rachael relays a story about how important it is to follow directions during our newest segment, "Who have you set on fire lately?"

This Week's Stat of the Week highlights the general futility of New Year's Resolutions. We talk about the percentage of New Year's resolutions that actually get accomplished (from a December 2018 New York Post article). Additionally, we track another mildly dubious statistic from Forbes (Dec 2018) via Business Insider (Jan 2017) via U.S. News & World Report (Dec 2015).
