Engaging with our kids' conflict isn't easy. Our hearts are fickle and we can be tempted to avoid conflict or to just try and fix it or even to dismiss it. However, our children's hearts are strengthened by working through conflict in healthy ways. We have an amazing privilege to enter into the conflict in our kids' lives. On this week's podcast we talk about helpful and healthy ways to engage:

  1. Helping our children practice self control.
  2. Modeling empathy with them.
  3. Giving them opportunity to communicate their true feelings.
  4. Brainstorming solutions.
  5. Developing negotiation skills.
  6. Reinforcing that life isn't fair (and that is ok).

At the end of the day, when we wade into the conflict in our kids' lives we make a meaningful impact by helping them develop seven vital life skills:

  1. Humility
  2. Self control
  3. Listening
  4. Communication
  5. Empathy
  6. Problem solving
  7. Respect

The Stat of the Week comes from Statistics Denmark where the elderly are the happiest, but the youthful are most optimistic!
