Life is precious. Life is fleeting. Life is what one makes of it.  And if you put yourself in a situation where jail/prison is your reality, the life that you could have had, is gone. The person that you could have become is probably not going to happen. And after spending several years behind bars, watching others around him being  executed or dying, Bryan had time to reflect on some of the decisions that he made as a youngster that derailed his future.
