Porsche Automobil Holding and Deutsche Telekom are in talks to anchor a €500 million venture capital fund managed by DTCP that will invest in European defense technology companies. The fund targets startups and businesses in the defense sector as European governments increase military spending in response to security concerns. Porsche SE has removed its previous restriction to only invest in dual-use technologies, allowing direct investment in defense-focused companies. DTCP, previously a Deutsche Telekom unit, has previously partnered with Porsche and Deutsche Telekom on investments, including in German drone maker Quantum Systems. Other European investment firms are also raising defense-focused funds, and recent policy changes are easing regulatory barriers, although many European defense startups still rely on U.S. funding.
