Tesla informed factory workers on the Cybertruck line in Austin not to report to work from Tuesday through Thursday this week. Workers received a memo stating they would be paid for scheduled shifts. The reason for the unexpected days off remains unclear, and Tesla did not provide comments. Since October, workers experienced fluctuating schedules, with previous patterns of overtime shifting to a standard 40-hour work week for some. Reports indicated reduced hours for Cybertruck production line workers earlier this year. The Cybertruck, unveiled in 2019, received around two million reservations, and recent reports suggest some reservations are being fulfilled faster than expected. Tesla has also reduced leasing prices to $899 for the all-wheel drive model and $999 for the tri-motor configuration over a 36-month term.
