UnitedHealthcare implements a buyout program for employees in its benefits operations unit, aiming to meet staffing needs. This initiative, called the Voluntary Resignation Separation Program, offers financial packages to encourage voluntary resignations, with a deadline set for March 3. Both full-time and part-time employees across four areas—corporate, consumer operations, core services, and provider services—are eligible. Employees accepting the buyout will have exit dates between May 1 and November 13, with the financial package determined by their tenure. The company has indicated potential layoffs if it does not achieve its resignation target. UnitedHealthcare, part of UnitedHealth Group, reported over $400 billion in revenue for 2024 and employs over 440,000 people. The company experienced leadership changes following the death of its CEO, Brian Thompson, in December 2024, with Tim Noel stepping into the role in January.
