The United States has become Germany's largest trading partner, surpassing China for the first time since 2015. In 2024, trade between the U.S. and Germany reached 252.8 billion euros, while trade with China fell to 246.3 billion euros. The Netherlands ranked third with a trade volume of 205.7 billion euros. Germany's economy struggled over the past five years, facing increased competition from Chinese firms. A new government will address these economic issues following Germany's upcoming election. Germany's trade surplus with the U.S. grew to 70 billion euros, with U.S. imports decreasing and German exports rising. In trade with China, Germany experienced a widening deficit, with both imports and exports declining. Overall, Germany's total exports decreased by 1.2%, and imports fell by 3%.
