So much of our daily lives feels like a string of things happening to us. What’s so important about Christmas? Maybe you’ve never asked that question. Maybe it’s obvious to you. But maybe not. At Christmas, God became someone we can touch. Why did God come down into our world where he could be touched and handled and ultimately killed? The simple reason behind Christmas is stated through the birth of Jesus in Luke 2 verses 1-7: God loves you. God wants you to know that your life is not just a series of random events happening to you. In other words. Jesus was born for you, lived for you, died for you, and rose for you.  This episode goes discusses a decree that comes down from Rome. A young family takes a week-long trip. A woman’s labor starts.

This Christmas Eve Sunday sermon, based on Luke 2 verses 1-7, was preached at Grace of God Lutheran Church on December 24, 2023. This sermon is preached by pastor Timothy J. Walsh, a member of WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). Scripture selections come from the New International Version.
