Gospel Daily with Josh Weidmann Divine Interruption: Responding to the Call of God, Part 1 Series: Unveiled Scripture: Mark 1:1-20 Episode: 1408 If any of these questions resonate, this sermon speaks directly to you:

  1. What if the interruptions in my life are actually God trying to get my attention?

  2. How can I be sure I’m hearing God’s call and not just chasing my own dreams?

  3. Why does it feel so hard to surrender my plans—what if God’s way costs me too much?

  4. Is following Jesus really worth it if it means sacrifice or suffering along the way?

  5. How could my simple “yes” to God ripple out and change the lives of people around me?

Bible Passage Summary: In Mark 1:1–20, the Gospel opens by declaring Jesus Christ as the Son of God and introduces John the Baptist, who prepares the way by calling people to repentance and baptism. John baptizes Jesus in the Jordan River, where the Holy Spirit descends like a dove, and God affirms Jesus as His beloved Son. Jesus is then led into the wilderness and tempted by Satan, yet remains without sin. After John is arrested, Jesus begins His public ministry, preaching the good news of the kingdom of God, calling people to repent and believe the gospel. He then calls His first disciples—Simon, Andrew, James, and John—inviting them to leave everything and follow Him to become fishers of men. Key themes include repentance, divine identity, spiritual authority, and the call to discipleship.
