Fox News has Bud Light Hold their Beer as they Fire Tucker Carlson

Tucker Carlson has been ousted from Fox News.

In a statement, the network said:

"FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor."
He will not have a farewell show, as his departure is effective immediately. According to the Fox News statement, his final appearance was last Friday: "Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st."

Let's examine the different possibilities:

Dominion lawsuit: The left has tried to tie this to Fox News' recent $787 million settlement with Dominion, which alleged that Tucker, along with other Fox personalities defamed the election software company.

Discrimination lawsuit: Last month a former producer was fired and has since filed a discrimination lawsuit, alleging she was bullied and subjected to antisemitic remarks.

January 6 coverage: According to the LA Times, Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch did not like Tucker's reporting on the January 6 riot, and the possible use of FBI agents to inflame the situation.

What is Tucker saying?
Nothing at the moment.

The numbers: Tucker Carlson was the biggest thing in cable news for the last few years, often doubling and tripling the ratings of his CNN and MSNBC competitors. In March 2023, Tucker's show drew an average of 3.251 million viewers.

Tucker also contributed millions of views to the Fox News YouTube channel. And his show on Fox Nation, the network's paid-subscription streaming service, was a huge draw.

What next? Fox News will have rotating guest hosts in his 8 PM time slot for now. Meanwhile, the network lost nearly $1 billion in market cap yesterday following the announced split.
