The Podcast describes a revolutionary golf swing concept called "eCoach." It identifies nine possible swing patterns based on the movement of the shoulder, elbow, and hip during the backswing and downswing. The position of the right arm (high, side, low) and the resulting joint movement play a crucial role in shaping the swing. Three types of arm movement during the downswing (behind, above, in front of the hip) are linked to specific release types. The system aims to determine the player's individual biomechanical characteristics through testing to identify the optimal swing.

The eCoach system identifies nine different golf swing patterns based on the combination of backswing and downswing planes:

Backswing planes: Shoulder plane, elbow/torso plane, shaft/hip plane.

Downswing planes: Shoulder plane, elbow/torso plane, shaft/hip plane.

In addition to swing planes, eCoach analyzes the position of the right hand (high, side, low) and the type of release (Cover, Cornering, Extension).

Biomechanical Principles:

Hand Position: The position of the right hand influences the elbow position and hinge:

Low: The elbow is tucked, and the hand is under the shaft, requiring a vertical hinge to keep the club “flat” during the swing.

Side: The elbow aligns with the shirt seam, and the hand is alongside the shaft, requiring a horizontal hinge to maintain a flat swing.

High: The elbow is elevated, and the hand is above the shaft, requiring a diagonal hinge to stabilize the swing.

Release: The release type is connected to the position of the right elbow relative to the right hip (Linkage):

Cover Release: The right elbow is behind the right hip (Rear Linkage). The right arm remains high and guides the club down and left. Common among golfers with a "high" hand position.

Cornering Release: The right elbow is above the right hip (Middle Linkage). The right hand flattens and allows the club to “turn the corner.” Common for golfers with a "side" hand position.

Extension Release: The right elbow is in front of the right hip (Front Linkage). The torso remains back, the arms extend, and rotation pulls the clubhead through. Common for golfers with a "low" hand position.

Goal of the eCoach System:

By analyzing a golfer's individual biomechanics, the system aims to determine the optimal swing type.
