The Podcast discusses mental preparation before a golf swing, divided into two phases:

The analytical phase, covering the strategic aspect, and the creative phase, focused on shot execution.

The analytical phase includes assessing the course,
choosing the club, and setting the target.

The creative phase involves mental exercises to enhance focus and calm the nerves before the actual swing.

The Podcast provides specific tips and strategies for golfers to integrate these phases into their swing routine for optimal mental readiness.

The two essential phases of mental preparation for a golf swing are the analytical and creative phases:

  • Analytical Phase: This begins
as you approach the ball. During this phase, you assess your position, the
distance to the target, wind conditions, and select the club you wish to use.
This phase is also known as course management.

  • Creative Phase: After
completing the analytical phase, the creative phase begins. Here, the focus is
on calming the nervous system through movement, focus, and breathing. You might
recall a similar well-executed shot from the past and visualize the shot you
intend to make. It’s crucial to stay focused on the target during this phase.

The main difference between the two phases is that the analytical phase is based on logic and planning, while the creative phase relies on feel and imagination. It's important to follow both phases in the correct order for
optimal mental preparation. The best time for a pause in your routine is between the analytical and creative phases.
