Structured plan to improve putting skills through systematic practice. Divided into six phases, it covers fundamental and advanced concepts like distance control, aim and alignment, visualization, green reading, follow-through precision, and accuracy drills. The program’s design ensures each phase builds upon the last, progressively refining technique and consistency. It can be completed in various schedules, extending from seven to twenty-four weeks, with options such as three days per week for seven weeks, two days per week for ten weeks, one day per week for nineteen weeks, or one day two to three times per week for nineteen weeks.
The foundation is distance control, critical for leaving the ball near the hole. Once mastered, the program moves to aiming and alignment, ensuring the ball rolls on target. Visualization and green reading are introduced to build confidence and interpret green slopes. Later phases focus on fine-tuning the stroke, enhancing follow-through consistency and accuracy, sharpening focus, and ultimately improving scoring ability.
Day 1 introduces the Core Putt drill, which helps calibrate to green speed using personal rhythm and equipment. This involves putting three to four balls without aiming, focusing on achieving consistent distance. Turning the head toward the balls after the stroke, while maintaining posture, helps signal the green’s speed to the brain. This drill should be performed daily at the start of practice. Day 1 also includes baseline tests in three categories: Putts Holed (counting putts holed from a set distance), Average Putt Length (measuring the middle ball from nine putts), and Stop Within a Circle (counting putts that stop within a defined radius).
Days 2 and 3 focus on distance control through Parking the Ball Behind the Hole and Three Tees Drills, developing depth perception and control for putts rolling 15 to 35 cm past the hole. Day 4 repeats the tests from Day 1 to track progress. Days 5 and 6 emphasize aim and alignment with the Tourstick and String Line Drills to align the body and clubface. Day 7 repeats the three tests.
Days 8 and 9 introduce visualization and green reading with the Highest Point of Break Drill, where golfers putt over a marker at the slope’s peak, and the Around-the-Hole Drill, which requires holing putts from different positions around the hole. Day 10 repeats the tests. Days 11 and 12 focus on follow-through precision with the Rail and Gate Drills, ensuring consistent impact and path. Day 13 repeats the tests.
Days 14 and 15 target accuracy with the Ladder Drill (putting to progressively spaced targets) and Over-the-Line Drill (putting along a straight line). Day 16 repeats the tests. Days 17 and 18 focus on scoring with the Multiple Hole Drill (putting to five different holes) and the 18-Hole Challenge (playing a full round on the practice green, recording strokes). These drills improve scoring ability and reinforce distance control. Day 19 concludes with the final test and Quick Putting Drill to consolidate skills.
Throughout, progress is tracked using the three tests: Putts Holed, Average Putt Length, and Stop Within a Circle. Testing is conducted on Days 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, and 19. Practicing the Core Putt daily calibrates feel and builds consistency. By following this structured approach, golfers can improve putting technique, build confidence, and lower scores with each round. The Putting Development Program offers a clear, measurable path to success.
