Today as we celebrate the Lord's day, we look towards the Gospel from today at mass. We hear Jesus saying. If you wish to be my disciple, let them deny themself, take up your cross, and follow me." What does it mean to deny oneself and follow me?  When we deny ourselves our own needs and help others by giving up some sacrifices, that pleases God.
