I found the above article and the included Ted Talks informative however this one  was especially helpful.  The speaker suggested the following steps to help you identify success for yourself.
1) Look for and act on opportunities
2) Learn about yourself. what's important, makes me happy, inspires me, energizes me
3) Surround yourself with people who care. (People who can remind you of what success means to you).
