Last week the EU said they are considering opening an investigation into whether OpenAI and Microsoft’s partnership agreement is a potential monopoly. Separately, The New York Times sued the pair claiming copyright infringement when ChatGPT was trained on NYT content. I’ll discuss why I think the EU investigation will go nowhere and conversely, why the NYT suit is critical to better LLM outcomes.
