Funkier Radio is 20 episodes old! We celebrate this momentous occasion by doing what we do best - exploring the many facets of funky music for the first hour, before handing over to a guest selector so they can show us what they’re made of.
Hour 1 features funk, soul and disco galore with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Stargard, Gap Band, P-Funk All Starts and Basement Freaks, with edits from Late Nite Tuff Guy, Shit Hot Soundsystem, O'Flynn, Situation and a brand new one from me. Then in hour 2 I bring you a very special, exclusive Guest Mix from the brilliant Esteban. Part of Liverpool’s Black Light Disco Crew, Ste always brings the goods… and this time is no exception. You're in for a treat with an hour and four minutes of sumptuous grooves and the best edits the world has to offer.
Get yourself to https://soundcloud.com/esteban2907 to hear lots more from Ste and the Black Light Disco crew, and I’ll see you in a couple of weeks.
Peace, unity and love, especially to our European Union friends - Love to you always!

MORE ABOUT ESTEBAN AND THE BLACK LIGHT DISCO CREW...
A native of Liverpool, Esteban (aka Ste Hendry) has been DJ’ing for over 30 years. Earning the nickname ‘Snooker-Star DJ’ as a mickey take due to his 7 times World Snooker Champion namesake, Ste is one of the brains behind the newest player on the disco and funk block, ‘Black Light Disco’.
The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. The BLD ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. A gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 saw Black Light Disco launch itself with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It proved to be the start of something very special. With 3 events now behind them since the launch in June 2019, Black Light Disco has recently landed a weekly Monday night slot on New York’s biggest House Music FM station, MyHouse Radio FM.
Joining Ste in the BLD adventure are Dirty Old Vinyl, Goz (Spin City), the dynamic duo of Pookie Knights and Nick Gartland - all of whom are working hard to take the BLD project to the next level in 2020
