After the first film grossed $407 million off a $37 million budget, Summit Entertainment was suddenly very intent on adapting the entire Twilight series. That would mean making big changes to ensure future sequels would release annually. Catherine Hardwicke was out and Chris Weitz was in. The troublesome locations of Oregon were replaced with elaborate sets and soundstages in Vancouver. The filmmakers were still committed to staying faithful to author Stephanie Meyer’s original vision, but that commitment would be tested with the moody, romantic second chapter, 2009’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON.
