With an enjoyable musical salute to Texas, the Sugar Sisters with cowgirl hats and props brought back old memories with their rendition of western music and the Texas state song, “Texas, Our Texas,” written by William Marsh and Gladys Yoakum Wright. Gene Autry was brought to mind with “Back in the Saddle Again” and “Deep in the Heart of Texas.” The Civil War era folk song “Yellow Rose of Texas,” once recorded by Ernest Tubb and Gene Autrey, was delightfully sung by the Sugar Sisters. Their program also included Hank Williams, Jr.’s “Hey, Good Lookin’,“ Bob Wills’ “Rose of San Antone,” the Sons of the Pioneers’ “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” and Roy Rogers’ “Happy Trails.”
