Scott & Dawn Smith are leading a series on Wednesday nights for couples at Lakewood called, "Train Your Mouth for Marriage." In this 5 part series, the Smiths are unpacking the importance of our words and the impact they can have on our spouse - either for good or for bad.
On this episode of the FM Podcast, the Smiths share with us Part 1 entitled, "Small, but Mighty." The Smiths walk us through James 3:1-12, where James speaks of the power of the tongue and he gives three examples of small natural elements that cause an effect 100 times its own size: bits, rudders and sparks. A bit in the mouth of a horse can restrain the large beast. A small wooden rudder can direct a massive ship through the water. A small spark can ignite a huge forest fire. The Smiths explain that we can understand the power of the tongue by taking a closer look at these small but mighty examples. The Smiths also unpack ways we can seek to control our words.
