This week's English for football expression is the verb 'to crush' which means to defeat another team easily, to thrash them, to beat them heavily. Sometimes the verb is followed by the result to emphasise the defeat, for example, Arsenal were crushed 5-0 or West Ham crushed Bristol 4-0. (To) Crush



* Example: The favourites crushed the underdogs 5-0 in a friendly game
