Fi: Suma hämärässä suossa oli kuin maali auringon valoa hylkivä peili.
En: The mire in the dim swamp was like a target-rejecting mirror in the light of the sun.

Fi: Paksu sumu kiemurteli veden ylle, ja hyönteiset surisivat innokkaasti.
En: Thick mist coiled over the water, and insects buzzed eagerly.

Fi: Oli kesä, täyteläinen ja täynnä elämää.
En: It was summer, lush and full of life.

Fi: Kaarlo, Ansa ja Veikko istuivat suon reunalla.
En: Kaarlo, Ansa, and Veikko sat at the edge of the swamp.

Fi: Heidän jalkojensa alla olivat märät kivet, ja veden ääni kupli hiljaa.
En: Beneath their feet were wet stones, and the sound of the water bubbled softly.
