Fi: Eero istui laiturilla, katsellen Saimaata.
En: Eero sat on the dock, watching Saimaa.

Fi: Vesi kimalteli auringossa.
En: The water shimmered in the sun.

Fi: Oli juhannus, suurenmoinen kesäjuhla Suomessa.
En: It was juhannus, the magnificent summer festival in Finland.

Fi: Mutta Eero ei tuntenut iloa.
En: But Eero did not feel joy.

Fi: Hänellä oli polvituki ja kyynärsauvat vieressään.
En: He had a knee brace and crutches beside him.

Fi: Leikkaus oli kuukausi sitten, ja toipuminen oli hidasta.
En: The surgery had been a month ago, and recovery was slow.

Fi: "Eero!
En: "Eero!

Fi: Tule mukaan!"

En: With a determined look, Eero made a decision.

En: "I’m going to swim," he said unexpectedly.

Fi: Aino katsoi häntä yllättyneenä.
En: Aino looked at him, surprised.

Fi: "Oletko varma?"
En: "Are you sure?"

Fi: "Olen," Eero vastasi lujasti.
En: "I am," Eero replied firmly.

En: This was the moment.

Fi: Hän seisoi, otti kyynärsauvat, ja tunsi Aino tukevan häntä.
En: He stood up, took the crutches, and felt Aino supporting him.
