Fi: Aino hengitti syvään, katsoessaan vanhan saunan ikkuna-aukosta ulos.
En: Aino took a deep breath as she looked out of the window opening of the old sauna.

Fi: Sen takana oli jäätynyt järvi, joka heijasti taivaalla hiipivää harmautta.
En: Behind it lay a frozen lake that reflected the creeping grayness of the sky.

Fi: Oli syksyn ja talven taitekohta, ja ensimmäiset lumikiteet leijailivat ilmassa.
En: It was the cusp of autumn and winter, and the first snowflakes were drifting in the air.

Fi: Saunaa oli käytetty jo sukupolvien ajan; savukivet höyrysivät hellästi, levittäen lämmintä, rauhoittavaa tuoksua.
En: The sauna had been used for generations; the smoke stones steamed gently, spreading a warm, calming aroma.

En: “How have you been?” Aino finally asked, her voice slightly trembling.

En: “Good,” Eero replied with an overly cheerful tone.

Fi: Entä sinulla?” Aino nyökkäili, vaikka sanat olivat vaikeita.
En: “The past years have been busy but good.

Fi: ”Hyvin täälläkin.
En: And you?” Aino nodded, though the words were difficult.

En: “Good here too.

Fi: Eero katsoi Ainon silmiin ja nyökkäsi lopulta.
En: But I thought... maybe we should talk about what happened.” Silence fell between them, broken only by the hissing of the sauna stove.

Fi: ”Olet oikeassa.
En: Eero looked into Aino's eyes and finally nodded.

Fi: Meidän pitäisi puhua siitä.” He alkoivat keskustella, vaatien sanoja joillekin vanhoille, rosoisille tunteille.
En: “You’re right.

Fi: Aluksi oli vaikeaa, mutta vähitellen menneisyyden kipupisteet nousivat pintaan.
En: We should talk...
