Cs: V jarním světle Praha zářila jako drahokam.
En: In the spring light, Praha shone like a jewel.

Cs: Pastelově zbarvené domy se skvěly pod modrou oblohou a zvuky křehce šumících zahrad naplňovaly vzduch.
En: Pastel-colored houses glistened under the blue sky, and the sounds of gently rustling gardens filled the air.

Cs: Po kamenné cestě kráčel Ladislav, v hlavě těžké myšlenky, ale s usmívajícími se očima.
En: Along the stone path walked Ladislav, with heavy thoughts in his head but a smile in his eyes.

Cs: Vedle něj šla Tereza, jeho sestra, která se snažila držet si pohromadě svou malou rodinu.
En: Beside him was Tereza, his sister, who was trying to keep her small family together.

Cs: Minulý týden byl neuvěřitelně těžký.

En: He had been out of work for several weeks.

Cs: Každý den se díval na inzeráty a rozesílal životopisy.
En: Every day, he looked at ads and sent out resumes.

Cs: Zatím bez úspěchu.
En: So far, without success.

Cs: Neřekl to Tereze.
En: He hadn't told Tereza.

Cs: Nechtěl ji zatěžovat.
En: He didn't want to burden her.

Cs: „Asi bych měla přemýšlet o našem životě tady,“ pokračovala Tereza s pohledem na domy kolem.
En: "Maybe I should think about our life here," Tereza continued, looking at the houses around.

Cs: „Možná bychom se měli přestěhovat někam ven.“
En: "Perhaps we should move somewhere outside."

Cs: Ladislav se zastavil a podíval se na sestru.
En: Ladislav stopped and looked at his sister.

Cs: „Proč by ses stěhovala?“
En: "Why would you move?"

Cs: Tereza poprvé zakoulela očima.
En: Tereza rolled her eyes for the first time.

Cs: „Vím, že tu máme domov, ale je toho tolik, co se musí zařídit.
En: "I know we have a home here, but there's so much that needs arranging.

Cs: Praha je drahá.
En: Praha is expensive.

Cs: Chci, aby byl Matouš v bezpečí a šťastný.“
En: I want Matouš to be safe and happy."

Cs: Ladislav se opřel o zábradlí vedle cesty.
En: Ladislav leaned against the railing beside the path.

Cs: Kdyby ji teď mohl podpořit.
En: If only he could support her now.

Cs: Kdyby mohl své problémy odložit a soustředit se na ni.
En: If only he could set aside his problems and focus on her.
