Cs: Podzimní listí šustilo pod nohama a děti v kostýmech netrpělivě čekaly na večerní oslavy.
En: The autumn leaves rustled underfoot, and children in costumes eagerly awaited the evening celebrations.

Cs: Tereza, mladá a zvědavá žena, se procházela moderním předměstím Prahy.
En: Tereza, a young and curious woman, was walking through the modern suburbs of Prahy.

Cs: Měla na mysli zvláštní úkol.
En: She had a peculiar task in mind.

Cs: Sousedi říkali, že zmizela kočka.
En: The neighbors said that a cat had disappeared.

Cs: Tereza snila o tom být detektivem.
En: Tereza dreamed of being a detective.

Cs: Viděla se v zapeklitém případu, jako z krimi filmu.
En: She saw herself in a complicated case, like from a crime movie.

Cs: Může být tam?
En: Could she be there?"

Cs: “ zamyslela se Tereza nahlas.
En: Tereza mused aloud.

Cs: Jakub pokývl hlavou.
En: Jakub nodded his head.

Cs: „To dává smysl.
En: "That makes sense."

Cs: “Blížila se doba halloweenské oslavy.
En: The time for the Halloween celebration was approaching.

Cs: Děti začaly plnit ulice.
En: Children began filling the streets.

Cs: Přesto se Tereza nevzdávala.
En: Yet Tereza didn't give up.

Cs: „Pojďme do té zahrady,“ řekla odhodlaně.
En: "Let's go to that garden," she said determinedly.

Cs: Když dorazili, všimli si otevřeného okna v podkroví.
