Cs: Byl mrazivý zimní den.
En: It was a freezing winter day.

Cs: Sníh pokrýval střechy budov a chlad pronikal do kanceláře velké finanční firmy.
En: Snow covered the rooftops of the buildings and the cold pierced into the office of a large financial firm.

Cs: Všude byla cítit nervozita.
En: There was a sense of nervousness everywhere.

Cs: Rok byl pro zaměstnance obtížný, plný stresu a hodiny strávené v pestrých tabulkách na počítačích jim ubraly energii.
En: The year had been difficult for the employees, full of stress, and hours spent on colorful computer spreadsheets had drained their energy.

Cs: Na stěnách kanceláře visely bílé zářivky a chudý umělý vánoční stromek smutně skrýval svůj konec roku v rohu kuchyňky.
En: On the office walls hung white fluorescent lights, and a poor artificial Christmas tree sadly hid its end-of-year presence in the corner of the kitchenette.

Cs: Mezi těmito šedými stěnami byl Bohumil, juniorní zaměstnanec s obličejem anděla a chutí špatně plánovat.
En: Amidst these gray walls was Bohumil, a junior employee with an angelic face and a knack for poor planning.

Cs: Přesto měl ústa plná duhových slibů.
En: Yet his mouth was full of colorful promises.

Cs: Měsíc před Vánoci se rozhodl: „Musíme mít Secret Santa!
En: A month before Christmas, he decided: "We have to have Secret Santa!"

En: But Bohumil had a plan.

Cs: Rozhodl se, že předstírá, že byl pověřen vedením.
En: He decided to pretend he was tasked with leading it.

Cs: Ukryl svou touhu pod maskou veselého nadšení a začal připravovat seznamy.
En: He hid his desire behind a mask of cheerful enthusiasm and started preparing the lists.

Cs: Když se jeho kolegové začali ptát: „Kdo tě na to pověřil?
En: When his colleagues began asking, "Who put you in charge of this?"

Cs: “ Bohumil se vyhýbavě usmál a odvětil: „To je tajemství, to by nebylo žádné překvapení!
En: Bohumil evasively smiled and replied, "That's a secret, there wouldn't be any surprise!"

Cs: “ Aby zabránil podezření, zapojil Vladimíra, kolegu známého tím, že často zapomínal číst pracovní e-maily.
