Cs: V zimě, kdy venkovní krajina vypadala jako pohádkové království, se střední škola zdobila světýlky a vánočními girlandami.
En: In the winter, when the outdoor landscape looked like a fairy tale kingdom, the high school was decorated with lights and Christmas garlands.

Cs: Studenti byli plní očekávání, protože se blížil zimní ples.
En: The students were full of anticipation because the winter dance was approaching.

Cs: Mezi nimi byla Jolana, která byla vždy skromná, tichá a ztracená ve světě literatury a hudby.
En: Among them was Jolana, who was always modest, quiet, and lost in the world of literature and music.

Cs: Jolana měla kamarády, Marka a Lucii, kteří ji občas povzbudili vyjít ze své ulity.
En: Jolana had friends, Marek and Lucie, who occasionally encouraged her to step out of her shell.

Cs: „Možná bych měla zkusit něco jiného, něco normálního,“ řekla Jolana, když se dívala na tradičnější šaty v pastelových odstínech.
