Cs: Uprostřed zimního večera, svítilo osvětlené Staroměstské náměstí v Praze jako klenot.
En: On a winter evening, the illuminated Staroměstské náměstí in Praha shone like a jewel.

Cs: Zvonky na stromech třpytily ve světle svíček a sněhové vločky tancovaly ve vzduchu, jakoby se chtěly přidat k radosti všech kolemjdoucích.
En: The bells on the trees sparkled in the candlelight, and snowflakes danced in the air as if they wanted to join in the joy of all passersby.

Cs: Jana se prodírala davem mezi stánky.
En: Jana was weaving through the crowd among the market stalls.

Cs: Na tváři měla rozhodný výraz, ale uvnitř cítila neklid.
En: She wore a determined expression on her face, but inside she felt uneasy.

Cs: Byl to poslední večer před Štědrým dnem a musela ještě najít poslední vánoční dárky pro svou rodinu.
En: It was the last evening before Christmas Eve, and she still had to find the last Christmas gifts for her family.

Cs: "Měla jsem to udělat dřív," přemýšlela Jana, zatímco se snažila prorazit skrz houf lidí.
En: "I should have done this earlier," Jana thought as she tried to push her way through the throng of people.

Cs: Vedle ní šel Miroslav, její bratr, a každou chvíli jí připomínal, že se čas krátí.
En: Next to her walked Miroslav, her brother, constantly reminding her that time was running out.

Cs: "Jano, musíme pohnout, jinak nic nestihneme," zaslechla jeho varování.
En: "Jano, we have to hurry, otherwise we won't make it," she heard his warning.

Cs: Ona pouze přikývla a povzdechla si.
En: She only nodded and sighed.

Cs: "Pojď, Jano," zavolala Tereza, její nejlepší kamarádka, s úsměvem na rtech.
En: "Come on, Jano," called Tereza, her best friend, with a smile on her face.

Cs: "Najdeme něco krásného.
En: "We'll find something beautiful.

Cs: Neboj se."
En: Don't worry."

Cs: Její optimismus byl nakažlivý a Janě se ulevilo.
En: Her optimism was contagious, and Jana felt relieved.

Cs: Potřebovala tu povzbuzení.
En: She needed that encouragement.

Cs: Prošli kolem stánků plných sladkých trdelníků a vařeného vína.
En: They passed stalls full of sweet trdelníky and mulled wine.

Cs: Většina obchodů už měla to nejlepší zboží vyprodáno.
En: Most of the shops had already sold out their best goods.

Cs: Jana začínala ztrácet naději.
En: Jana was starting to lose hope.

Cs: Měla v hlavě jasnou představu, co chce koupit, ale zdálo se, že už nic z toho nenajde.

En: "Look, Jano!

Cs: Jsou nádherné," zvolala nadšeně.
En: They are beautiful," she exclaimed excitedly.

Cs: Jana se zamyslela a rozhodla se změnit svůj plán.
En: Jana pondered and decided to change her plan.

Cs: "Možná bych místo drahých dárků mohla vybrat něco osobnějšího."
En: "Maybe I could choose something more personal instead of expensive gifts."

Cs: S nadšením začala prohlížet dekorace.
En: Excitedly, she began browsing the decorations.

Cs: Miroslav mezitím pomohl vybrat nejhezčí ozdoby.
