Cs: V Praze, blízko hlavního vlakového nádraží, stál útulný café Freelancer’s Home.
En: In Prague, near the main train station, stood a cozy café called Freelancer’s Home.

Cs: V zimním odpoledni tam praskal oheň v krbu, stoly zdobily svícny, a vzduchem se nesla vůně čerstvě mleté kávy.
En: On a winter afternoon, the fire crackled in the fireplace, the tables were adorned with candlesticks, and the air was filled with the scent of freshly ground coffee.

Cs: Venku sněžilo, a blížící se Vánoce dodávaly městu kouzelnou atmosféru.
En: Outside, it was snowing, and the approaching Christmas added a magical atmosphere to the city.

Cs: Štěpán seděl u okna a hleděl do závějí.
En: Štěpán sat by the window, gazing into drifts of snow.

Cs: Venku byly ostatně stejně nejasné jako jeho životní úvahy.

Cs: Štěpán se pousmál.
En: Štěpán smiled.

Cs: „Rád bych, díky,“ odpověděl, a jeho myšlenky se na chvilku ztišily.
En: “I’d love one, thanks,” he replied, and his thoughts quieted for a moment.

Cs: Poté si spolu začali povídat.
En: Then they began to talk.

Cs: Štěpán ukázal Lenče nějaké své návrhy.
En: Štěpán showed Lenka some of his designs.

Cs: Lenka mu oplatila pohledem na své skici – obrazy, o kterých Štěpán řekl, že mají duši.
