Uk: Літо у психіатричному відділенні було зовсім іншим, ніж за його стінами.
En: Summer in the psychiatric ward was entirely different from outside its walls.

Uk: Вересклі фарби природи здавалися віддаленими.
En: The vivid colors of nature seemed distant.

Uk: Тут, у стерильному приміщенні, час зупинився.
En: Here, in the sterile environment, time had come to a standstill.

Uk: Через велике вікно в кімнаті Дми́тра можна було побачити сад, де буяв зелений мир і мовчазна квіткова радість.
En: Through the large window in Дмитро's room, one could see a garden, where a green peace and silent floral joy thrived.

Uk: Дми́тро сидів на ліжку, заглиблений у свої думки.
En: Дмитро sat on the bed, absorbed in his thoughts.

Uk: Його душа блукала у чужих місцях, далеких від теперішнього.
En: His soul wandered to unfamiliar places, far from the present.

Uk: Її шматки ніби розвіяло вітром.
En: It seemed as if pieces of it had been scattered by the wind.

Uk: Того дня до нього прийшла Оксана.
En: That day, Оксана came to visit him.

Uk: Вона не могла залишити брата наодинці з його страхами.
En: She couldn't leave her brother alone with his fears.

Uk: Її почуття провини були великим тягарем — чому ж вона раніше нічого не помічала?

Uk: Дми́тро на мить зупинив погляд на її обличчі.
En: Дмитро momentarily rested his gaze on her face.

Uk: Пом'якшилися риси його обличчя, і з'явився тінь усмішки.
En: His facial features softened, and a shadow of a smile appeared.

Uk: — Варення... — тихо сказав він. — Солодке варення...
En: "Jam..." he said quietly. "Sweet jam..."

Uk: Це був перший крок назад додому.
En: It was the first step back home.

Uk: Оксана стиснула його руку, намагаючись передати тепло і силу.
En: Оксана squeezed his hand, trying to convey warmth and strength.
