Uk: Зимовий вечір над Києвом був холодний, але ясний.
En: The winter evening over Kyiv was cold but clear.

Uk: Небо висіло низько, обіцяючи сніг, але місце біля собору святої Софії було осяяне теплом свічок.
En: The sky hung low, promising snow, but the place near the Saint Sophia Cathedral was illuminated by the warmth of candles.

Uk: Стояли ліхтарі, і тепла хвиля світу текла крізь кожну щілину.
En: Lanterns stood, and a warm wave of light flowed through every crevice.

Uk: Люди зібралися на свято Стрітення Господнього, і їхати було нікуди — серця були тут, у храмі.
