Sv: Erik satt vid sitt skrivbord med utsikt över stadens silhuett.
En: Erik sat at his desk with a view over the city’s skyline.

Sv: Vårsolens sken föll in genom fönstren, men Erik kände sig tung inombords.
En: The spring sun’s rays streamed through the windows, but Erik felt heavy inside.

Sv: Han hade nyligen gått igenom en skilsmässa och fann sig nu ensam med sin lilla dotter Emma.
En: He had recently gone through a divorce and now found himself alone with his little daughter Emma.

Sv: Varje dag började på samma sätt.
En: Each day started the same way.

En: One day, an important meeting began, one of those meetings where Erik wanted to show what he could do to increase his chances for a promotion.

Sv: Men mitt under mötet vibrerade hans telefon.
En: But in the middle of the meeting, his phone vibrated.

Sv: Det var ett samtal från Emmas skola.
En: It was a call from Emma's school.

Sv: Hjärtat stod stilla ett ögonblick.
En: His heart stood still for a moment.

En: What had happened?
