Ja: 東京の寒い二月の日、雨が細かい雪に変わり、寒さはますます厳しくなっていました。
En: On a cold February day in Tokyo, the rain turned into fine snow, and the cold became increasingly severe.

Ja: ヒロシは信号待ちで、手袋をもう一度確認し直し、意を決します。
En: *Hiroshi stood waiting at the traffic signal, checked his gloves once more, and steeled himself.

Ja: 自分が目撃したことを報告するべく、新宿警察署へ向かいました。
En: He was on his way to the Shinjuku police station to report what he had witnessed.

Ja: 心臓がドキドキし、足取りは少し重いです。
En: His heart was racing, and his steps were somewhat heavy.

Ja: 警察署は忙しく、ドアが開くたびに冬の冷たい風が吹き込みました。
En: The police station was busy, and every time the door opened, the cold winter wind blew in.

En: A few minutes later, Officer Akira appeared.

En: With a serious face, he spoke to Hiroshi.

Ja: 「何を見たんですか？
En: "What did you see?"

Ja: 」アキラは問いただしました。
En: Akira inquired.

Ja: 「あの、先週の金曜日、オフィスの帰りに…」と彼は話し始めます。
En: "Well, last Friday, on my way home from the office..." he began.

En: He wasn't sure if his memory was accurate.
